How Things Get Made
Ezra Shales teaches the history of design and craft at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. During the spring of 2019 he is a Fulbright Fellow at the Academy of Design & Crafts (HDK) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
On March 14, 2019 I sat down with Shales to speak with him about topics he raises in his book The Shape of Craft (Reaktion Books, 2017). The book considers how things get made and the people who make them.
The transcript of our conversation is published in Norwegian Crafts.
To conclude Shales’ Fulbright Fellowship a further conversation between Shales, Röhsska Museum Director Nina Due and HDK Professor of Crafts Jessica Hemmings titled Exhibition Making: Perspectives from a Curator, Historian & Critic will take place at the Röhsska Museum, Gothenburg June 12 from 16.00-17.30. All welcome.
